Elegant Italian Escape
Valparaiso, IN
When former clients purchased a new home for their growing family, they reconnected with us to help make it their own. Both busy doctors, this couple wanted a warm, playful interior to connect with family and friends. They entrusted us with transforming an unused room in their home’s lower level, with a special request for sensory connections to nature and the outdoor world, given the room’s location without direct outdoor access.
Our mission? To create a sophisticated game room with plenty of room for both adults and kids to lounge, play games, and watch sports together. As a family of gaming enthusiasts, their space required ample cabinetry to house multiple state-of-the-art gaming systems, along with their accompanying cords and controllers.
To achieve this, we designed a custom Italian library with an integrated TV and projector, along with custom Italian lounge sofas for endless flexible seating configurations. We incorporated biophilic design principles to encourage mental and emotional well-being through the use of a soft palette of gray, teal, and cream, along with natural textures and a dynamic lighting scheme. Additionally, we installed a 120” screen to bring nature indoors, featuring outdoor scenes of mountains, forests, and beaches, along with their audio backdrops.
In the end, we elevated a basic lower-level to a soothing place of refuge where they can unwind and entertain with family and friends.
