Harbor Retreat
New Buffalo, MI
These Lake Michigan condo owners wanted to replace their home’s 90's oak and terra cotta color scheme with a serene palette worthy of a five-star retreat. So we embarked on a journey to remove all interior finishes and started fresh. With the harbor views and the homeowners’ request for a soothing spa experience as our guides, we thoughtfully sourced furnishings, fixtures and finishes to promote peace, tranquility, and wellness.
Custom built-in cabinetry provides plenty of storage and minimizes clutter, while its sleek wood finish creates the perfect contrast to the pebbled fireplace surround. Together, these natural materials evoke a sense of calm, never detracting from the adjacent lake views.
Because our homeowners love to host and entertain, we anchored the kitchen with a 16 ½ foot kitchen island, featuring maple shaker-style cabinetry and a quartz waterfall countertop. Beneath the barstools, a three-dimensional tile illuminated with LED lighting serves as a second focal point, mirroring the lake beyond.
The integration of sleek, low-profile furniture throughout the space and sophisticated floor-to-ceiling window treatments maximizes the beautiful harbor views. Each element of this beautiful condo was carefully selected with evidenced-based and biophilic design principles at the forefront to create a peaceful, healthy space for all who enter.
